'O' Revoir To Oprah!
The big guest for the secret last episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show has been revealed. With the two shows leading up to today's finale boasting a guest list including Michael Jordan, Tom Hanks, and Madonna, the bar was set high for Oprah's final booking. The Chicago Tribune has reports from audience members who attended the last taping yesterday: The final guest of The Oprah Winfrey Show will be Oprah Winfrey herself.
"She said, 'This isn't goodbye. This is until we meet again,'" said Amy Korin, 32, of Chicago, who was in the audience...
..."It was just her the whole time, a recap of what she believed in, what we've given her as viewers and what she hopes she has given us," said Nancy Evankoe, 60, Hoffman Estates, who went to the taping with her daughter.
Though no celebrities shared the stage with Winfrey, the Tribune reports that friends Maria Shriver, Tyler Perry, and Cicely Tyson attended the taping.
To honor the end of The Oprah Show, Winfrey's new television network, OWN, is doing the television equivalent of hanging the flag at half mast. The network will go dark from 4 to 5 pm, the normal time Oprah airs in most markets, flashing a message directing local viewers to the station airing the finale's telecast.
